Our small company is an aftermarket and OEM automotive supplier and manufacturer known for its' innovative quality products. Specialty Products Company is currently seeking a full-time ENGINEER to join our talented team in Longmont, Colorado.
This is a regular, full-time position with competitive pay, a comprehensive benefits package, and in a growing company – this is not contract, part-time, or temporary!!
Roles & Responsibilities:
Development of new products (new applications and/or new designs).
• Assessment of application, benchmarking, OEM part analysis.
• Design, Develop, and Test as needed.
• Apply new design, process, materials, or testing methods.
Create new and maintain existing engineering design models, drawings and standards.
Diligent documentation creation and maintenance including test records, photo files, etc.
Support technical needs of Purchasing, Quality, Manufacturing, and Sales.
Generate content for product instructions, FAQs, media materials, etc.
Assist with updates to product application information.
Follow up on customer product complaints.
Back up for Technicians' role on SPC technical assistance hotline
General Requirements:
• BS degree in engineering ('4-year' programs) - or 8 years relevant experience if no degree.
• Demonstrable general knowledge of automobiles, especially suspension/chassis parts and function across new and old cars and trucks.
• Working knowledge of alignment principles and methods,
• Familiarity with alignment equipment (desired).
• Working knowledge of computer software:
• CAD (required) - preferably SolidWorks
• Microsoft Office (required) - Word, Excel, PowerPoint
• Lab Software (desired) – Labview, Matlab, etc.
• Good general oral and written communication skills, especially:
• Creation and interpretation of technical drawings. (required)
• Knowledge of drafting standards (desired).
• Basic knowledge of machining and other metalworking processes, and familiarity with DFMA (Design for Manufacturing and Assembly) principles.
• Strong inclination for attention to detail and consistent adherence to company practices & industry standards.
• Materials knowledge (desired) – metals, elastomers, plastics
• Knowledge of SPC product line and/or alignment solution products a plus.
• Continuous improvement habits – stays current on automotive chassis-related technology, processes, new vehicle models, engineering tools & resources, materials advances, manufacturing methods, etc.
• Safety awareness and habits.
• Must be able to pass a pre-employment background check.
Physical Requirements:
Work at a computer with keyboard for up to 10 hours per day.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. repetitively for periods up to 8 hours per day.
Ability to stand up to 8 hours per day.
Sitting up to 8 hours per day.
Continual bending throughout the day
