DESCRIPTION OF HANDS-ON
TRAINING
The object of this class is to instruct technicians on how to do proper alignments,
which will include installing parts that will help bring the vehicle back into
alignment. The trainers will show the class how to install specific parts along
with instructing them on alignment angles and related problems, however, the
technicians will be installing many of the parts. These classes may also be
tailored for salespeople. Class size limit is 12 - 15 people.
LOCATION:
Local Vo-Tech schools are the ideal location for this type of training.
Many are willing to have training at their facility and often there is
no charge
to use their location if their staff can attend. They may also have cars available
to work on. Finding the location and making all arrangements and agreements
would be between the WD and the location. The training location and the WD
are encouraged to call one of Specialty Products' trainers or their SPC regional
sales representative if they have any questions regarding the content of the
class.
A repair facility could also be used. The garage would have to be big enough
to handle 12 – 15 technicians and would have to be available for the
whole day without interruption. Vehicles would have to be scheduled for repair.
Some warehouse distributors have training facilities that are set up for
this type of training. This type of facility would also works very well.
Whatever type of facility is used, it is recommended to keep the training
in a central area. Changing facilities every day is very time consuming
for a
hands-on class and more problems arise during the class because of tools and
parts availability.
TOOLS:
A complete set of hand tools should be available for installation of products.
It is the WDs responsibility to make the
tools, vehicles, and product available for this training.
Also air tools may be required for certain applications.
PRODUCT THAT WOULD BE NEEDED:
This list is dependant on vehicles being used in the training class and is
used as an example only. A list of vehicles should be provided to the Specialty
Products' trainer and a complete parts and tools list will be forwarded to
the WD for them to provide for the class.
NOTE: The WD will be charged for all products that are used in this clinics.
Acquiring the correct parts and tools is NOT the responsibility of Specialty
Products or SPC's Reps, it is wholly the WD's responsibility.

If you are looking for a "specific" type of Hands-On class, such
as Performance/Lowered Vehicles, Lifted/Raised Trucks, or other specific needs
please contact the Specialty Products' Training Department for a list of recommended
vehicles for these types of specialized Hands-On classes.
OTHER RECOMMENDATIONS:
Hands-On Training requires an average of 4 to 8 vehicles to work on for
an 8-hour class depending on how much work needs to be done to each vehicle.
Specialty Products Company cannot stress enough the fact that we MUST have
a proper set of tools, parts and equipment available for the class to go smoothly.
Ideally, certain vehicles would be scheduled for work and the parts would be
available for those vehicles at least (30 days) before the clinic. There is
always the chance with live work that something might break or the right tool
is not available so proper planning is essential for making these training
classes a success. If something like that happens we can go into a classroom
situation and use the slide training program that we have an available for
the evening seminars.
With the popularity of lowered vehicles a suggestion would be to put a
lowering kit and our alignment products on a vehicle. AGAIN REMEMBER ALL
PRODUCTS THAT
ARE INSTALLED WILL BE THE RESPONSIBILTY OF THE W.D. THAT IS SPONSORING THE
TRAINING. This may take most of the class but will be able to illustrate all
of the problems and solutions associated with this type of work. These would
be only presented in the class if lowered vehicles were something that your
company is focusing on.
REMEMBER - The Hands-On Training can
be customized to fit your customer's needs.
The Cost for this type of training is $500.00 per day for an 8 hour
Hands-On Class. With the WD furnishing all the Products, Tools, and the
Location needed. This type of training will need to followed
up by the SPC. field rep and a check-off chart would be need to make sure that
all areas of this type training are in place (such as the proper product is
in stock at the WD’s facility, the vehicles are lined up for this time,
and location and tools would be available at the time that is requested for
this type of training.)
FOR FUTHER INFORMATION ON THIS TYPE OF TRAINING PLEASE CONTACT
THE TRAINING DEPARTMENT AT SPECIALTY PRODUCTS COMPANY.
